Objective:

The legal profession today is in trouble. As a profession, attorneys drink problematically at a rate that is 5 times that of the general population, and attorneys report rates of anxiety (61%), depression (46%) and suicidal thoughts (12%) that are far in excess of the rest of the population. Well-being for attorneys is not just something for which we should one day strive; rather, it is an immediate, critical health crisis.

The purpose of this CLE is to provide attorneys with an introduction on mindfulness practice which has been shown through extensive research to provide relief for many of the most problematic issues that plague the profession. Attorneys who learn and apply mindfulness practice can find far healthier methods to interact with the component parts of the legal profession and bring balance to their lives outside of the workplace. This CLE will introduce mindfulness techniques for personal and professional well-being and to support better interactions with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, and the lawyer’s family members.
